Length rank edit

According to this list, a 610 meter span would put it at #9 among cable-stayed bridges. (Nowhere near the big suspension bridges, of course.) -- Kbh3rd 03:41, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Bridge Image edit

I had to remove the bridge image, due to the fact that the design on that image issn't the desing shown on the main bridge project web site at [1]. A new free bridge image needs to be found that match with that website. Sawblade05 06:38, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bridge name not yet determined? edit

This newspaper article from May, 2009, states that the Missouri General Assembly resolution on the bridge's name is advisory only, and the text of the resolution quoted in the article merely "urges" the two states' legislatures to take the steps to name the bridge after Reagan. Apparently there is a move afoot by the Illinoisers to name the bridge after Rep. Jerry Costello. There is no indication on the project website concerning the official adoption of either name.

If this bridge is not yet officially named for Reagan, and especially if the choice of the official name is in dispute between the two states, I believe that this article's name is premature and that it should be moved back to New Mississipi River Bridge pending final determination of the name. --Kbh3rdtalk 19:51, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree. This article should be renamed "New Mississippi River Bridge". Despite how much the Republican dominated Missouri legislature drools over their mystical, all-powerful Ronald Reagan, the bridge has unfortunately for them not yet been named "Ronald Wilson Reagan Memorial Bridge". --Wbush89 (talk) 06:35, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The bridge will officially be named the "Stan Musial Veteran's Memorial Bridge". Legislation naming the bridge passed both houses of the United States Congress this week and is expected to be signed into law by President Obama by the end of the week. http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2013/06/25/stan-musial-veterans-memorial-bridge-passes-u-s-house/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.73.44.248 (talk) 02:38, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Moved article edit

The bill to officially name the bridge has been signed, according to STL Today.[2] I have moved the existing article and talk page to reflect the new name, replacing a copy+paste recreation under the new name; the move preserves article and talk page history and is the proper way to handle situations such as this. New Mississippi River Bridge is now a redirect to the new name, Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge. --Kbh3rdtalk 21:32, 13 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Oh, as a consequence of the move, all edits have been lost that were made to the article under the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge name following the copy-and-paste and prior to the move of the original to the new name. Feel free, of course, to recreate any edits that improve this article. --Kbh3rdtalk 21:42, 13 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

map/sta view? edit

a map showing the bridge's location, &/or a satellite view showing the same thing would be nice here. Lx 121 (talk) 04:53, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Second span? edit

Interstate 44 says that eastbound traffic on I-44 cannot use this bridge until a second span is completed. Is that true? Based on Google Maps, it appears that has not happened. Is it planned? Were these intentionally left out to split the traffic burden or something? -- Beland (talk) 03:36, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
