Furniture in St. Mary's, Glyntaff. edit

The seating and the block floor in the church were of pitch pine and not oak. My father told me this when I was very young. I can confirm he was correct because I now have a knowledge of timber used in construction and furniture. The screen was light oak and it is a great pity that it was removed. I believe the pulpit was also oak. The both second and second-hand organ was built in the 1950s by the organist/choirmaster, Cyril Williams. It replaced a smaller organ, which was hand pumped via bellows, until an electric pump was installed. That organ has also been removed. The second large grave stone on the left as you enter through the main gates contains the remains of Jonas Needs who, as a mason, cut the foundation stone for St.Catherine's church in Pontyprdd. 81.101.129.101 (talk) 12:22, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
