Possible Edits

At the moment, the Wikipedia article for this topic does not reflect the scope of academic literature currently available. I would like to expand the definition provided here, as well as add connections to the topics of employment, healthcare, education, economic development, and other forms of demographic-based inequalities.

Summary of Changes

I've written sections on Determinants and Measurements, updated the Lead section, added this article to WikiProject Economics, and included relevant citations from academic journals. I've also reformatted the article to include a See Also section, and Further Reading has been made a sub-section within this.
