So, no one has included the space suits from 2001: A Space Odyssey, with its uniquely head-shaped helmets and wrist controls?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.163.0.41 (talk • contribs)
Where's Samus Aran's suit? --Buddy13 00:37, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
In Heinlein's "Have Spacesuit - Will Travel," Peewee gets a suit from the Mother Things. The spacesuit is skin tight around the body but has a force field for a helmet. Could you add that in? (Kyle) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.177.228.66 (talk) 08:41, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Hsswt58.jpg
editImage:Hsswt58.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Image copyright problem with Image:Have Space suit.jpg
editThe image Image:Have Space suit.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Planetes have a great work on spacesuit Manetic Rose from Katsuhiro Otomo too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.153.152.57 (talk) 03:29, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
George Griffith
editA mention should be made of George Griffith's A Visit to the Moon (1899) which, if only slightly later than Serviss' story, provides a much more recognizable type of space suit (modelled on diving gear of the time).
You have also this image by J. Gerlier from a 1896 French novel. Hektor (talk) 09:00, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
SHADO suit link bad
editI am not a Wikipedia expert, so I am reluctant to make any changes myself. But I notice that clicking on the link that should bring up an image of the SHADO suit generates a 404... Should the reference be deleted? Not sure what to do
Short story that had space service not able to recruit women because space suits had to be worn all the time.
editCan't remember the name or author but it had a woman space General nicknamed Sinister Finister because of her cape on her self-designed uniform. Story had many psychological elements and I'm not doing it justice. Military drafted ad agency so that they could court-martial them if they didn't produce. Main designer was in the midst of a nervous breakdown. Created an ingenious solution to the problem but his partner (the protagonist) had to step up and protect him and face down the military.67.223.26.148 (talk) 01:40, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
Star Wars
editDarth Vader's suit was in fact intended as a space suit (suitable for short jumps between space ships) in the first story iterations and production designs. It looked so cool that the creators changed it into the sort of bionic survival suit it has become in the saga as we know it. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:2:121E:5A4D:1956 (talk) 07:33, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
Jules Verne
editIt is said : In Jules Verne's 1865 novel From the Earth to the Moon, the spacesuits resemble the diving suits... Since at no point in the novel the heroes reach the Moon (they fly around it), despite this is sourced this statement is wrong. There is no spacesuit in any work by Jules Verne by the way.
