Governorships

edit

While there are plenty of sources mentioning his Governorship of Tobago from 1807 until his death in 1815, I am far less sure about the claimed governorships of Dominica (1776) and British Guiana (1777). British Guiana doesn't exist until 1814, while Sir Thomas Shirley, 1st Baronet had been Governor of Dominica from 1774 until the island's capture by the French in 1778. The dates for the claimed governorship of British Guiana coincide almost exactly with the acting governorship of that colony by William A. G. Young, except a whole century out (8 March 1877–3 April 1877), which may be the source of that confusion. Dominica may be the result of a confusion with the second Baronet's father, though he was governor there in 1770. I will remove the references to these governorships.
