Peter Heywood edit

Thomas Pasley was the uncle of Peter Heywood, one of the accused mutineers of HMS Bounty brought back to England for court-martial. It was at least partly through his efforts that Peter received a pardon. After the court-martial, Lord Hood, who had been president of the court, encouraged Heywood to continue in the naval service and offered him a berth on his ship HMS Victory, but Pasley, believing the youngster would learn more on a smaller ship, secured him a berth on HMS Niger, Captain Legge.
