Was or is an Anglican Priest?

edit

It is often said that "a priest is a priest for ever. SG is still alive. Therefore he is perhaps a priest rather than was a priest. (This is all based I think on Hebrews Chapter 5 v1-10 although this refers to Jesus himself rather than any priest. Unless he acts as a priest in the Roman Church he is I suspect not a Roman Catholic priest. Am I right so far? Should he be described as "is an Anglican priest who has now joined the Roman Catholic Church", "is a priest, ordained by the Anglican church who has now become a Roman Catholic" or "is a former Anglican priest who has now become a Roman Catholic." Or is there some other correct description? The present description just doesn't look right. It may depend on whether one is a Roman Catholic, an Anglican or other Christian or a non-Christian. I don't think I can edit the article as this question a) probably needs some ecclesiastical or theological training ,which I don't have, b) I don't have the sources. c) I am a former parishioner of SG. Spinney Hill (talk) 14:11, 20 October 2024 (UTC) One thing I think I can do is revert an edit to the infobox which definitely refers to his last appointment in the Anglican Church that is to SG as he then was rather than to any position he now has. Chancellor of St Paul's pro-cathedral was the last appointment of any kind he had according to the article and he is described as former chancellor, which certainly was an Anglican appointment. The box before my edit was misleading as it was not an RC appointment.Reply
