Spelling

I've been thinking about that one too, but it seems like the present version is also the most prevalent one in English. He has consistently used it prior to becoming Vice PM. That said, it does go against Bulgarian transliteration rules. --Laveol ^T 23:28, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Of course it should be Dyankov, there is no doubt in my mind about it. "Djankov" is not only phonetically wrong but also less used. Martin Georgiev (talk) 14:01, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Even though Dyankov is the proper way to transliterate the name, it actually seems that Djankov is used more. On all the books that he wrote that I looked at, it seemed that he spelled his name Djankov. On the website for the institute that he is a senior fellow, his name is spelled Djankov. His personal twitter account (seems not active now) has it spelled Djankov. A google search using ""Simeon Djankov" economist" returns about 76000 results while ""Simeon Dyankov" economist" only returns about 2500, and most of the entries returned seem to be references to the wikipedia article. It seems that his name does not follow the normal transliteration rules, or people have mistransliterated his name so much that he has just resigned to have it as Djankov. If we keep his name as Dyankov on the Wikipedia page, maybe it should say "commonly spelled Djankov" or something similar since it is a little confusing to have Wikipedia not match most of the content for him other places on the internet. Archaeology

I moved the section to his political work since he advanced archaeological findings in Bulgaria during his ministry. It maybe his favourite science outside finance either but it should be stated properly if so, for now it looks like a summarization of his work together with Bozho while being a finance minister. --Aleksd (talk) 15:00, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

I think it has no place in this article and I've removed it altogether. It sounded like an ad and most of the information had basically no relevance to the article's subject. The problem is that Mr Dyankov seems to be too active in editing the article himself, indulging in self-promotion along the way. --Laveol ^T 21:08, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Well, I can't say I am sure what you're referring to. You might want to bring it up on my talkpage or something. As for the article in question: are you actually suggesting that the text ought to stay there. There were only two references to Mr Dyankov in the entire section. One read that he "started an ambitious program for restoring cultural heritage sites from the Thracian, Roman and early Bulgarian history." Did he? The Minister of Finance? The next sentence is about the state and Mr Dimitrov investing funds in over 80 archaeological sites. Then it went on describing actual findings in detail. The other sentence where Mr Dyankov is present claims he has sometimes been called "Bulgaria's Top Archaeologist." Unsurprisingly, there is no source to back said statement. I can say I follow quite a substantial part of the media flow in Bulgaria and have never heard any source call him that. At least, not in a jokingly manner. --Laveol ^T 21:53, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
