I am concerned with how much of this article is unsourced information. I would like to see some references added. Pace2Pace (talk) 14:40, 28 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

The phrase "Gibraltar of the North"

edit

It is true the phrase is used in the title of a modern article about Sveaborg, but it is a-historic to suggest that it held that reputation at that time. In fact the origin of the term is in it's negation. I forget who it was at the time of it's heyday, but the sentiment was precisely that Sveaborg was not the Gibraltar of the North, rather than that it was. I'll try to dig up the full quote with context, but is there something that can be done in the meantime? -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick.
