Shugborough Inscription

edit

A recent edit here suggests that the British press is reporting that a man named A. J. Morton has solved the Shugborough Inscription. A link is provided to the Irvine Times, and yet a search on the Irvine Times reveals no articles on Shugborough, and googling doesn't reveal any other press accounts of such a claimed feat. Would the editor who added this please add more substantiation? Thanks. MarmadukePercy (talk) 11:08, 28 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hall?

edit

Re [1] Should this be Shugborough Hall or Shugborough? Does the estate of Shugborough have a building on it called Shugborough Hall?

Any change though is going to need firm sourcing behind it. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:16, 4 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

NT themselves seem to call the main building the "mansion house". Historic England list it as "Shugborough Hall": [2] --Martinevans123 (talk) 21:39, 4 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
The Historic England listing uses both, in the form of an estate called Shugborough and a building called Shugborough Hall. It's not clear what WP's precise scope is. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:11, 4 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I thought we were discussing the main building. As this article also includes the estate as a whole and the other buildings, it might be better to call it simply "Shugborough". That's certainly how it's signposted on approaching roads. Martinevans123 (talk) 07:37, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

National Trust pilot

edit

Hello! During late June, July and some of August, I'm working on a paid project sponsored by the National Trust to review and enhance coverage of NT sites. You can find the pilot edits here, as well as a statement and contact details for the National Trust. I am leaving this message when I make a first edit to a page; please do get in touch if you have any concerns. Lajmmoore (talk) 19:09, 3 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Admiral Anson

edit

How does an admiral amass a fortune? And how did the Anson family get enough money to continue to run the estate? 176.35.135.50 (talk) 08:43, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
