Neutrality of article

"Wolin is often described as representing the hard-Left" - not because of the conceptualization then cited in your text, but because he's noticed that a) other historical democracies like Athens and early Rome succumbed to becoming empires, with democracy losing out and b) the way an empire describes itself is often not accurate.[source: public lecture, keynote speaker, CLMP Annual Event, Redway Calif., Nov. 1, 2008]. So American Democracy is deconstructed in his books. But why does the "hard-Left" term link to a very specific British political party leftist term of art - to which Sheldon Wolin has no cited direct connection whatsoever?

I would like to ask the same question as above. I'm not entirely sure whose opinion it was that he represents the "Hard-Left" or who decided to link it to that article about British Marxists, but according to his very own writings I would have to assume that the association is very wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.66.254.155 (talk) 03:47, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

I think this article is clearly not neutral. It makes an assertion without any references or sources. I don't have a lot of time to edit, but I'll try to correct this, perhaps by just removing the statement, or commenting it out pending someone providing an authoritative source. Upon looking a little further, I felt it appropriate to add the NPOV tag to this article with hope that other editors will take note and work to improve this article. Death of Subject?

I note that the subject has been marked deceased? Do we have a citation on that? Thanks! BenBurch (talk) 21:28, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

I have reverted that. I'm will make the change as soon as a reliable published source is found confirming his death, if indeed it has taken place. Doing otherwise is a serious violation of Wikipedia's policy on biographies of living persons and on no original research. I have just reverted a second attempt to list his death by an anonymous IP. We're an encyclopedia, not the source of breaking news based on "personal knowledge" or blog posts. A delay of a few days has zero consequences for the subject. Hmmm, yes. An IP has made quite a few changes to the article and its structure after your addition—and they are not an improvement in my view. On the other hand, the article was fairly poor to begin with, with a lot of cruft, e.g. the entirely unreferenced "wall" of dozens of academics (not all of them particularly notable) whom he allegedly taught, no proper biographical narrative or structure, a fair amount of OR/essay writing, and poorly referenced evaluative statements.
