Union regulations?! edit

This needs some explaining please. What exactly prevented her from continuing the role.

SUCH A GOOD VOICE edit

Wow. I just heard her sing on cesdtalent and I think she should have her own album! Seriously. She's so much better than some of those hack singer (e.g. - Paris Hilton). So, hope to see more from her soon, 'cause she definately is just as talented a singer as she is an actor. And she's a great actor.

I'm a HUGE fan, Shelby! Hope you don't mind this page on here xD

DELETION edit

This article was started by multiple new users (sock puppets?) to up the praises of a very little known actress whose only claim to fame was starring in a 5 minute television pilot. Check all the edits made by the article starter. This page is being used for nothing more then a search engine spider trap for keywords just as many of you might remember the hoax user Christine Ridder did on wikipedia.

This article was obviously made by either Shelby or her parents. Read the starting pages here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shelby_Young&diff=106094843&oldid=103306584

"Shelby Young began acting at age 5 and hasn't stopped since. Shelby was born in South Florida, but has lived in New York City and currently resides in Los Angeles. Shelby's career has taken her to many great locations, but some of her favorites are The Carribean and Iceland.

- Shelby likes the typical teenage stuff such as: shopping at the mall, going to the beach, hanging with her friends, movies, talking on the phone, Intant Messaging and boys. She loves all kinds of animals especially strays that she finds or that find her. Shelby has a cat and a two dogs that live at her Dads. "

User 76.173.39.161 and Lykwhoah very obviously the same persons. Above the user MARIE is actually Lykwhoah usinbg very creative wikipedia scripting to make it appear that others agree with her. I'm would be my next big mac a checksum would agree.

Yeah, I wrote the page. I got all the info off of IMDB. Also, Shelby has been in quite a few episodics, which is where I know her from. What's the issue with changing everything? I got the summary off of IMDB, along with the resume. So, whatever. Wish I could say I was Shelby...even that I knew her, sadly I don't. Someday maybe. Also, yes, the 76.173 etc. is me as well, forgot to log in. Not trying to make it look like anyone was agreeing with me.

Resume edit

The only roles I ever posted on here were roles IMDB listed for Shelby, at the time. If IMDB changed, I apologise, but I'm not posting to "get Shelby these roles", as you've said LexiLynn. Just posting what, at the time, was verifiable. Marie 04:30, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I can confirm that those roles were listed on IMDb. Of course, as the film comes out it may turn out she was not credited, or IMDb hasn't locked its credits yet, but nobody is trying to put bogus credits here LexiLynn. --Snakeman 05:52, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

While IMDB does not credit Shelby as doing the voice of Ellie Aarons in Bridge to Terabithia (2007 film) I have searched and MANY other websites do. And IMDB did before. Therefore, I added it on here.

Bridge To Terabithia edit

Hi! Just curious as to some source info. This page has her listed as Ellie Aarons in TBTT, but IMDB lists that role as being played by Emma Fenton. Do you have source info listing that Shelby appeared in the film?

Ispy1981 16:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

She provided voice work for the film (mainly looping for Emma Fenton), however, I do not know if she ended up in the final credits of the film. A google search will show her listed on several sources as having done voice work, but whether it is appropriate for the article remains to be seen. --Snakeman 11:38, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Apparently she was the voice of Ellie Aarons (my guess is the two older sisters were New Zealanders and had accents (the other sister was re-voiced as well, it seems) so they had her re-voice Ellie). IMDB doesn't list her, however many other reputable websites do.

Marie 03:00, 3 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, that would make sense. Just did a google and yes, it seems she is credited with voice-over work in the film on some reputable sites. My guess is she didn't end up credited in the final film print, and therefore was ineligible for the IMDB credit. I've seen that happen a few times. Thanks.

Ispy1981 09:51 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I did re-voice Ellie Aarons for the film Bridge to Terabithia. Both Emma Fenton and Devon Wood are from New Zealand, therefore they have New Zealand accents. They held auditions for girls to re-voice them. Both Emma Hunton and myself booked the job to re-voice Brenda and Ellie. So, both Marie and Snakeman are correct.

Shelbyyoung 20:16, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't mean to be a conflict of interest stickler, but if a role is disputed, and someone claiming to be the subject adds it to the article, it still needs a source. If someone has that "reputable site" that has her listed, it would be helpful to add that to the article. Thanks. Leebo86 20:27, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Also, I'm not doubting User:Shelbyyoung's claim to being the real Shelby Young. I just want to say that there is no source for the role in the article and it needs one. Leebo86 20:29, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Should I post those reputable sites on here or somewhere else?

Shelbyyoung 22:13, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think you should get off the sock puppet account. It's not listed on imdb.com, hell even the guy who brings david letterman is listed on imdb.com. Enough said. Fan sights don't count here. Shelby Young's own agent said she didn't do the voice, so why come here and use her name as your account just to bolster your own claim. 69.132.198.252 03:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Still having trouble with English, 69.132.198.252?

Ispy1981 04:50, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am not with Savage agency nor have I ever been. If you check my official website you'll see that. darkhorizons.com and cinema.com are not, or have ever been "fan sites", in my book. Plenty of others agree with me as well. Also, what is a sock puppet account?

Do you need proof it's really me? Fine here 'ya go: mom wanted me to take my picture down

Shelbyyoung 03:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

A sockpuppet account is an extra account created by an existing user for malicious purposes, such as vote stacking or vandalism. It was an unnecessary accusation, going against our guideline of assuming good faith. Anyway, the picture should clear up any confusion about your identity... Leebot|c 12:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

photochop is the friend. that is well very klnown picture without notebook. okay look at it's crc file for that picture. anyway i am done argue. she was not in the film and no did voice for it, that is why it was removed from imdb.com because they VERIFY the people with role if need be. As I say, her agent said she not in the movie, she not in the movie. Other sites copy imdb.com, is where they get information from, if they copy when imdb.com had that incorrect info then they are still incortrect.

Tired of argue, well known picture of shelby photochop to add in notebook, look above notebook, pure black line along face hair. is fake. good luck. 69.132.198.252 22:07, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you're done making baseless accusations and posting without logging in, then I assume we can get on to adding a source for the role? You should read WP:AGF before accusing people of the malicious activities you regularly accuse users of. Leebo T/C 22:40, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think that is a good idea, Leebo. Please tell us how we could go about adding a credible source. I have no doubt of Ms. Young's testimony as well as that of some of the others on here. As it says on the page as I'm typing "Encyclopedic content must be attributable to a reliable source". If darkhorizons isn't a reliable source, what is? I've given my reason above for why IMDB isn't (user driven, Ms. Young may not have received credit on IMDB due to lack of onscreen credit). What is? I certainly doubt it is the word of a Greek one minute, American the next frequent abuser, who may, if my suspicions are correct, be a jealous stage parent and a noted internet con artist.

Ispy1981 02:00, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hahah. I knew you would think I photoshopped it. And no, it's not. Also, it's not a "well-known" picture, I just took it. Don't you think if I had photoshopped it I would've made myself look better, maybe added make-up? Lol. I really don't care what you believe, obviously there's no way to get through to you. So, whatever.

Also, you keep saying I'm with Savage and that you called my agency. First of all, never been with Savage. Second of all, an agent would NEVER give you that sort of information unless you were someone in the industry. Don't go around lying.

Yes, I did re-voice Ellie Aarons. It's not even that big of a deal, not like I'm saying I stared in something and I didn't. It's just my voice.

Now, I'm done with this. I really do not care if you believe me or not. The credit is staying up and if you keep harrassing me I'll be deleting all of your comments off of my page.

Shelby 02:58, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You do not own wikipedia, nor do you own your "own" page. Please read rule about wikipedia, this is a content dipute, not harassment. 2 rabid fan on you page does not make you shelby young, nor does it make you own page nor does it make it right of you credits. 69.132.198.252 22:37, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I had to take down my photo. My mom said I'm not allowed to have it on here.

Shelby 03:30, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The best thing we can do, at this point, would be something that says (uncredited) if Ms. Yound did not end up in the credits. - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 03:32, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

There are two things to consider: Firstly, did she perform the role? Can it be confirmed? Secondly, if she did... is an uncredited vocal role notable enough for inclusion in the article? I'm leaning toward solving this problem by saying that if she didn't make the credits, it's not really notable enough for the article. Leebo T/C 03:39, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I agree with you. (Even a trivia note of she performing the vocal role could be accepted, but there's none.) - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 03:47, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Um, pardon, but, I don't understand why this is still an issue. Has anyone not thought to ASK her agency? I read somewhere where someone verified her ID through an email to the agency. Can't the same be done for the role? I would be amenable to a trivia note, if that's what it boils down to.

Ispy1981 04:01, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The reason that this is still such an issue is that the obsessive anon who managed to get himself blocked over this has started to contact editors who have no knowledge of its history. Note that IMDb isn't very reliable, as it's editable in the same way that Wikipedia is (though, so far as I can tell, with even fewer safeguards). There is little genuine doubt that she did take part in a voice-only role (possibly dubbing one of the characters). All this has been gone over ad nauseam.

The question as to whether an uncredited voice-only role should be in the filmography is a good one, but simply removing it isn't the right way to approach that question. I'd go for a mention in the text, though I'd be happy with the status quo (I mean, really, what does it matter?).--Mel Etitis (Talk) 10:46, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

69.132.198.252, do you plan on contributing anything constructive to the encyclopedia? A content dispute can be settled without baseless accusations every post. Leebo T/C 00:00, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Can anyone else discern racism in the quote material? I can't. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 14:31, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Neither can I. Racism is not "any and every comment mentioning a race". It's discrimination based on race, and there hasn't been any comment like that in this whole discussion. Leebo T/C 14:45, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Clarification: What I meant when I wrote that is that I feel the user is "faking Greek". He seems to speak English well enough to harrass Shelby in one post (see above) then reverts back to "broken English". He has claimed that Babelfish helped him to write the harrassing comment(s), but I seriously doubt Babelfish is THAT good, having used it myself. The point is moot now, anyway, as I believe the user has moved on to another anon account and is continuing to try and remove the credit. Ispy1981 15:50, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

His English is never very good, in fact, but I agree that it moves between two rather different standards. And yes, he has clearly gone on to edit from anon. IP addresses. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 16:09, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You learn, now other admins are involve, you see, i am editor and doing edit, you want unsource unverifiable information for wikipedia, i am not so you get mad, is not my problem.

from one admin top another in response for ISpy board admin post:

"How in the world can one be a sock puppet of the other, when a sock puppet, by definition, is "an additional username used by a Wikipedian who edits under more than one name"? In this case, there isn't even one username, let alone two? What's more, there's no evidence provided of any attempts to avoid a ban or other disciplinary action, nor an attempt to increase the perceived support for any particular campaign. In short, there is no sockpuppet there.

By the way, even if they're the same person, there's not even any reason to assume that they're trying to appear under a different IP address. They're both simply coming from Road Runner accounts. It's my understanding that Road Runner assigns dynamic IP addresses, no? Bladestorm 01:10, 14 March 2007 (UTC)"Reply

Redundancy edit

Just tried to fix the bit about LazyTown (sentence structure and non-capitalization), but it seems still rather odd to me. As it stands, it says she originated the role of Stephanie (LazyTown) in the pilot of LazyTown. Seems redundant.

Modest Proposal edit

Since it has been agreed that IMDB is not a very good source, here's an idea. Strip down the filmography (as it's an almost carbon copy of IMDB) and replace it with things we can verify, through sources such as shelbyyoung.com (which is woefully barren with regard to credits, but what are you gonna do?) Then, since everyone (with one exception) has agreed Shelby had something to do with the film, put it in the body of the article as a trivia note, a curiosity, if you will. I agree that every little credit shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Hell, if we did that, John Carradine's page would go on for days. :)

What I don't agree with, however, is our contentious editor, who is now CineWorld, brinking the system, running to an editor with no previous experience in the matter and spamming three different editors a total of 25 times over the course of 2 hours. In response to his argument about Dark Horizons, 1) there is no "About Us" or anything I can see that would signal to me "fansite". 2) Dark Horizons seems to be, forgive me, a poor man's IMDB. The content is very much the same (movie listings, cast list, synopsis, showtimes, reviews). So, if Dark Horizons is out, IMDB would, by logic, be as well.

Also, it may be surprising to note, he's done this before. Take a look at User:65.184.20.38, basically used to deface the article of and harrass Hailey Anne Nelson. Now, take a look at this diff, which I'm sure we can all agree comes from the user CineWorld.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shelby_Young&diff=prev&oldid=112994198

Pay attention to the note about "HAN's" agent. HAN= nickname for Hailey Anne Nelson. Using the system Wikipedia uses, 65.184.20.38 comes from San Francisco. However, if one checks the FTP, near the bottom of the page, you'd see res.carolina.rr.com on both of them. You'll also see 65.184.20.38 speaks perfect English. We're being played here by someone with an obvious personal vendetta against these young actresses, someone who, if one googles the 65.184.20.38 IP, has a very interesting and checkered past (if that statement goes against WP:PRIV, let me know) I don't know about you guys but, my patience, for one, is being exhausted. I would like to sit down with some level-headed, experienced editors and resolve this.

Ispy1981 15:44, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure where you got the impression that I was yelling at anyone, let alone Ispy. BTW, I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but I Spy is the name of a children's book series that was a lot of fun when I was growing up. That's what I think when I see Ispy, not spies. Leebo T/C 03:46, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, it does have to do with spying, sort of. I'm not a spy (oh, how I wish I were), but it comes from the Bill Cosby/Robert Culp series, I Spy. Quite frankly, I don't see what my being a spy has to do with this article.

"I live in south cazrolina." No, you don't live in "south cazrolina" or South Carolina. Using the tools provided by Wikipedia, I can see your IP comes from Concord, NORTH Carolina. Or, did you forget where you live? Ispy1981 05:02, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
