Location

This article is quite unclear about the location of said company. The references to the House of Commons and "97% exports to the US" imply that the company is not in the US, and may be in the UK. But the only locations mentioned are in New York and Massachusetts. So where is it? Polymath69 18:15, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Savage Arms is an American company. They operate a factory in Canada which produces all of their rimfire rifles. I imagine the "97%" refers to the output of the Canadian factory. --70.160.160.175 19:03, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Revert

I did the revert, because for some reason someone felt it necessary to remove the firearms project tag, which seems to be quite relevant to this article. very old 22

Automatic Firing Squad

Apparent contradiction

"In 1939, Savage introduced the Model 24, a rare U.S. double rifle, which is actually an over-under rifle/shotgun combination that sold over a million copies.[2]"

For many years Savage was the only U.S. maker of over/under rifle/shotgun combination guns, and historically the only major maker of combo guns. I have never heard Savage 24s called double rifles.--Naaman Brown (talk) 11:06, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Powered Lawnmower

Another Wikipedia article claims Atco made first powered lawnmower in 1921:

Wasn't Atco was a cylinder mower and the Savage a rotary blade mower? Still I am not sure that the Savage was the "the world's first motorized (rotary blade) lawnmower". I suspect we could spend a lot of research correcting histories written by public relations depts. W.G. "Billy" Manson ad

Billy Manson was a famous hunting guide in my part of the country, that being the Bridge River-Lillooet Country of British Columbia, in the late 1800s and very early 20th Century; This image on dropbox is a halftone scan of his ad for Savage Rifles reproduced in a book called Halfway to the Goldfields: A History of Lillooet by Lorraine Harris; where she had the original half-toned for her book and in whose collection it is I don't know; maybe company still has this on file. There's no article on Manson yet, or on his sons, all notable - Manson's father was Donald Manson of the Hudson's Bay Company. This image obviously can't be used by wikipedia or I'd upload it instead of link it; my questions are "do I have the right company?" and "if this image is available in better quality, I'll use it on an article about Manson" and "it's a cool picture, this (in the original) or something like it would look good for the page, no?". I'm not sure that's the record grizzly he shot that's in this photo/halftone, it might be....(near Gun Lake not that it matters.Skookum1 (talk) 14:59, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Savage no longer offering MSR (AR Platform) rifles

I just noticed today (June 20, 2022) that the Savage MSR (Modern Sporting Rifle) series no longer appears on the Savage Arms website or on the downloadable 2022 catalog PDF. This is a recent change. They were listed on both the website and the English language catalog on March 27 and still appear in the German, French, Spanish, and Italian catalogs. I'm not able to find any information or announcement on why the series has apparently been dropped.
