Talk:Sambor I, Duke of Pomerania

In this context "prince" is a mistranslation of "princeps" edit

In this context "prince" is inaccurate. Generally speaking a prince would be above or equivalent to a "duke", but the title "duke" was reserved for the Piasts. Hence this "princeps" was below the rank of the duke.

What "princeps" means here is essentially "regent". Or more accurately a "namiestnik" or a starosta [1], not "prince" (which implies ties to royalty).

How about we go with just "Sambor I of Pomerania"?  Volunteer Marek  22:38, 15 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
