Sam Ryder (singer)Sam Ryder – Clear primary topic with far more media coverage etc than a minor golfer. No need for the existing disambiguation page at Sam Ryder to be moved as the golfer can be simply linked to with a hatnote. Chessrat (talk, contributions) 18:20, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Oppose Less than 3 months after the article was created and he's the "clear primary topic"? Classic case of recentism. We've got a minor singer and a minor golfer. Let's leave it for a year or two and then see. Maybe the golfer is headed for great things, maybe not. Nigej (talk) 19:07, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Too soon - but would probably support this move if the singer gets more popularity in the future. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:09, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. Sam Ryder (singer) has been famous for what, a bit over a month now? Neither article is the primary topic at this point. JIP | Talk 23:13, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Oppose I understand that these things are fluid but at the moment we can't circumvent WP:CRYSTAL with regards to what might be more significant or popular in the future. doktorb wordsdeeds 14:43, 12 June 2022 (UTC

Sam Ryder (singer)Sam Ryder – I believe that Ryder is the clear primary topic when using the "Sam Ryder" name. This was requested last year but the page had only been created within the three months prior and Ryder was only famous for being on Eurovision. He is now much more famous and well-known, and his article is now well over a year old, so I believe he is now the primary topic and his article should be renamed. An alternative option might be to move Samuel RyderSamuel Ryder (businessman) and then move the main title header of the Sam Ryder (disambiguation) page to Samuel Ryder since the full name of Sam Ryder (golfer) is also Samuel Ryder. Such a dab page would not have the singer as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC since he is not known as "Samuel Ryder" and users searching for his entry would access it directly by simply typing "Sam Ryder". —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 23:12, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'd be very much against moving the Samuel Ryder article. The man who donated the Ryder Cup is likely to have much more long term significance than either of the Sam Ryders. Nigej (talk) 04:12, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
If there is no consensus for Samuel RyderSamuel Ryder (businessman), paired with Samuel Ryder as the header of a potential dab page, then there is no need for a dab page, per WP:ONEOTHER. The two standalone WP:PRIMARYTOPICS — Samuel Ryder and Sam Ryder — can simply point to each other and to Sam Ryder (golfer) via hatnotes. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 15:22, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Nigej (talk) 17:53, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
