Straight edge, vegetarian

No one denies that Sage could be classified as both straight-edge and vegetarian, but it's also not the first thing that writers say about him, nor is it anywhere near the first thing he says when he describes himself. (And you won't ever see Snoop Dogg described as a "boozing, womanizing" hip-hop artist in the first sentence or paragraph of his entry.) Therefore I have moved these facts about Sage to later in the first paragraph.

--- Sage's origins as a performing emcee are somewhat rooted in the Straight Edge movement. He's stated in several interviews that he oringially considered himself a straight edge emcee. This is usally followed by him stating that, in retrospect, he's glad that his career didn't take off then, effectively pegging him as a niche artist, among other reasons. There should be some reference to his involvement with the movement in the past.

Sage's Actual Birthday

I actually did a good bit of research trying to find Sage's actual birthdate. Obviously he refers in multiple songs that he's born in 1968, and another song says "the seventies". But if you read his self-written biographies over the web, the events he references (his first concert, etc.) make it pretty clear he had to be born around 1975 or 1976. Also, there are a couple interviews where the writers refer to his age, and that also lines up with a birthdate around 1976.

So... I'm going to set his birthdate back to "ca. 1976", but I'd definitely not include him on any "19XX births" category listing until we find out for sure. -- User:Jjb

An approximate year, when mentioned in the article, is sufficient for categorization (People_by_year#Which_category_to_use).

Personally, I have no idea if it's 1968, 1975, 1976, but I just realized D6 used the year on the article's 24h-older-version, so I wouldn't have revert Pyrop's. -- User:Docu

Someone's edited the page to say his birthday is September 11 - surely that's rubbish?

Not only did this person change the birthday to September 11, they put the year back to 1968. Look, people, Sage is smarter than we are. In the songs, he is not telling the truth all the time. Everything that's not a song lyric indicates 1975 or 1976 as the real year, with 1976 being more likely. Please do not change this or put in a specific birthday, unless you have real, non-lyrical, evidence. User:Jjb

A bio of Sage Francis on the Epitaph Records website states he is 27.

Much information in that bio is a few years old now, and thus it only gives an approximate date. He is assuredly not 27 now, in 2006. User: Jjb

When was Makeshift Patriot recorded

A user at 209.248.155.222 changed the recording date of Makeshift Patriot to one day after the 911 attacks from one month after. I found 2 sources on the net that support the original assertion: [1] and [2] so I will change it back. TimMony 02:46, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

More on year of birth

The Bio on his website was written in January of 2005. That means he turned 28 that year and 29 this year. So how about 1977 then? Anyone disagree with my logic? I won't edit it to '79 without further agreement. -Wikiwikiwa

Hey, I just noticed the Sage Francis and Aesop Rock have the exact same intro (as of 4/12/07) to their articles...

Name

Why on earth is the reference for Sage's name link to the Copyright.gov website? I think someone's just inserting random shit and adding random references to make it look legit. I'd change it but I don't know how to screw with references.

Why is there constant confusion and misinformation about his name? His legal name is Paul Francis. His artist name is Sage Francis. He was adopted and went through a name change as a child but without confirmation about that it's clear that we should stick with the names that have been given. Paul "Sage" Francis. Also, where the heck did this Gabrielle thing come from?
