Requested move 23 June 2015 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved. I am personally opposed to these ridiculously long names for election results, but the precedent exists in scores of other articles. More concise wording should probably be achieved by making a mass-move request. — kwami (talk) 19:38, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

(non-admin closure) Malaysian state elections, 2013Results of the 2013 Malaysian general election by state constituency – Like Results of the 2013 Malaysian general election by parliamentary constituency, it is better title. • Comment I would be happy with forking this information (although preferably to "Results of the Malaysian state elections, 2013" rather than the awkward title proposed) if a briefer summary article can be created to replace it in line with Malaysian state elections, 2004, which is infinitely more readable. Until that happens, I think this is the best place for it (I moved this article to its current title today; it could have been moved back but an editor tried a cut & paste move instead, which meant the target is now blocked). • Oppose. Clearly 2 different things. In any case, the 2013 Election article needs to be expanded, and the table moved to the Results article. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 01:01, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - The name should not have been changed in the first place, the previous name is a better title. The page is for results is for state elections that was held as the same time as the general elections in Malaysia. There is also no need to expand the page and most of the information can be found in the main election articles- Malaysian general election, 2008,Malaysian general election, 2013. Also I reiterate that this discussion should not even be taking place at all. Lazybugger13 (talk) 15:08, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
    • The discussion wouldn't have been needed if you hadn't made such an epic cock up of trying to move it back (first moving it to "Wikipedia:State election results of the Malaysian general election, 2013" and then making a cut and paste move instead). Nevertheless, there is clearly the need for a separate article; firstly this is fairly standard (for example, the United Kingdom local elections, 2015 were held on the same day as the United Kingdom general election, 2015, and this is one example of many), and secondly, it is part of a series of articles (see Category:State elections in Malaysia). • I admit I made a mistake as it was needed to rectify that name change which you made, but there wasn't a need for you to change the article name in the first place. Since you have made the mistake, admit that you made the mistake. If you wanted to created a new article -Malaysian state elections, 2013, by all means do so. There is no need to change the results page name. And there is no need to make comparisons of standards with other election articles like I said before. You just create a domino effect, which leads to this unneeded discussion to move the article.Lazybugger13 (talk) 00:08, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
      • I don't think I've made a mistake, and clearly I'm not the only one who thinks the current title is an improvement... Number 57 15:32, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment – I am disinclined to support this, as the proposed title seems very un-WP:CONCISE. Results of the Malaysian state elections, 2013 (and, similarly, Results of the Malaysian state elections, 2008) would be a much better suggestion. --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:03, 13 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
