Maybe all the images of eggs should be removed except for one of a decorated egg (the Czech one?)- the article doesn't need pictures of plain red eggs, or regional variations in pattern (too specialised a subject). Xanthomelanoussprog (talk) 20:16, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Hey. !) I am not old. 2) I said on YOUR talk page that there are way to many pictures. I think 5 would be quite enough for this pic. If you take that as a compronise = let's say 3. Hafspajen (talk) 22:29, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
*Candleabracadabra, please stop adding back pictures that we remove from that red egg article, Xanthomelanoussprog and myself. I am myself for using plenty of pictures, but there is something that it is called way too many pictures. One has to make a selection. Hafspajen (talk) 15:34, 11 April 2014 (UTC) And this is what I said. Hafspajen (talk) 22:29, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Czech Easter eggs

The Easter Tradition (1912) painting by Boris Kustodiev

"Osterbrunnen"

Kozunak, Bulgarian Orthodox Easter traditional food with red dyed egg

Removed 5 now. Now start hoping they don't get back - or got added at Easter egg, where I had a little something with Candle, trying to add them there instead. That article is loaded to teeth with pictures, really. Hafspajen (talk) 22:33, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Illustrations are important. The myrhbearer illustrates something discussed in the article. The caption should probably make clear she holds a red egg. The red greek orthodox eggs illustrate that tradition. They dying photos and the leaf technique are also illustrated (these are used to make red eggs). I could see maybe removing one or two, but how are any of the images detracting from the article exactly? Candleabracadabra (talk) 22:34, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Right. You are worse than I am. Got reverted. I think third time now. [1] Xanthomelanoussprog and Drmies, explain Image policy, edit war and consensus, now - please. Xanthomelanoussprog and Drmies, explain, Hafspajen (talk) 22:40, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

(ecx2) I went ahead and removed

"Osterbrunnen"

I haven't had time to research this in particular and it may not be directly relevant. As noted in my edit summaries, the use of red eggs in cuisine and historical art works illustrating their significant cultural role are worth maintaining. As are illustrations of the various techniques use to prepare and decorate red eggs. It's a big subject I know and there are many significant aspects. Feel free to expand accordingly so the text covers these aspects appropriately. Candleabracadabra (talk) 22:42, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Candle, text first, pictures later. They're on Commons--they're not going to run away. Write the text and then add the pictures that illustrate the text: that's how it works. You're relatively new here and I won't hold your youth and inexperience against you, but please play along. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 22:54, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Can you point me to where that's in policy? You are suggesting that critical illustration be omitted until an article is fully worked up? How does that benefit the encyclopedia exactly? I don't play well. Candleabracadabra (talk) 23:04, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I know! But you know what, I'm not going to wikilawyer here and find policy where common sense should suffice. You can read WP:NOTGALLERY for yourself. Warrington, as fascinating as this topic may be I'd leave it alone, if I were you. There's many more puppies that need your help. Drmies (talk) 23:27, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Unbalanced and confusing (the gallery), and now it's L shaped. It's an egg dyed red. It's dyed red because a) red has positive symbolism b) no-one wants to eat a green or blue egg, and yellow is passé. There's stories about why red eggs are associated with Easter. You can make patterns on the egg. You can eat the egg, eat the egg with bread and soup or smash the egg on someone's head (hint). Europe stretches from Rockall to the village of the Albino Scotsmen in the foothills of the Urals. They all dye and eat eggs- we don't need to include every variation.
