110/2013/ND-CP No Same-sex Marriage Fines and Household Registration Book edit

http://tuoitrenews.vn/society/13750/vietnam-to-remove-fines-on-samesex-marriage

110/2013/ND-CP Apparently, we need an update to the article, but not quite sure how to do it. It looks like Vietnam is enacting a unique "neither legal nor illegal" view to same-sex marriage, but towards the bottom of the article, it says, they can "share a household registration book, meaning they are allowed binding relations in terms of property, children, and related rights and obligations."

What does that mean? Is that analogous to the unregistered unions of certain other countries? Or do we need to create a new status such as "legal, but only 'household' recognized?" Anyone out there who can clarify this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frimmin (talkcontribs) 21:53, 6 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

This article seems pretty out of date edit

Especially with this 1-year post-mortem on the lifting of a same-sex marriage ban: http://time.com/4184240/same-sex-gay-lgbt-marriage-ban-lifted-vietnam/

Vietnam only abolished penalties for conducting private, informal ceremonies, marriage in legal terms is still restricted to opposite-sex couples. See articles 3 and 8 of the Marriage Law (in effect since 1 January 2015). Ron 1987 (talk) 21:01, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Summary misleads readers about the nature of gay marriage in Vietnam. edit

I am challenging the reverts made to this article. A person will only be confused when they visit this article, read the summary, and then go on to discover that the rest of the article appears to dispute it. It should be clear that gay marriage is not illegal in Vietnam and there are many openly gay married couples there before one has to dive into the weeds to suss this out. This takes only one sentence to do and only enhances a readers knowledge about the topic. For the last three years, since the ban was repealed, there have been many attempts to reflect this in the summary by many different individuals. Their edits should be preserved as they are factual and made in good faith for the purpose of improving the wiki.129.19.92.21 (talk) 22:06, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
