Desi ghee? edit
i think that your knowledge is incomplete. desi is used for clarified butter only. the butter may come from buffalo's milk or cows milk. "Dalda" is used for vegetable oil.
"Punjabi cuisine ... is mainly based upon Wheat, Masalas (spice), pure desi ghee, with liberal amounts of butter and cream."
It seems to me that the use of the term "Desi" is inappropriate in this context. Can anyone clarify? -- 200.141.105.210 04:31, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- People in Punjab use the term "Ghee" for both clarified butter as well as vegetable oil (vanaspati). Therefore the term "Desi" is used to distinguish former from the latter. RMehra 06:46, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
this is Jay from Pune, India i am sorry to interrupt this text in such a way. im looking for basic information bout indian cuisine and the difference between two like punjabi vs south indian or maharashtrian vs bengali etc. can u help?!?!
