Size of pictures

I note, in this edit, that my picture of the zócalo was made quite a bit smaller. I don't think this picture works as a stamp-sized image, so I have made the image bigger again. Samboy 10:13, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Puebla FC

I changed La Franja to its more proper name, Puebla FC. I think colloquialisms go against encyclopedism. --Coryma 03:11, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

History

Puebla was the site of a major battle in the Mexican-American war. It would be interesting to include a brief discussion of the battle in this article.

Foreign-language sites

Since this is the English Wikipedia, webpages in English are highly preferred. Linking to non-English pages may still be useful for readers in some cases: * when linking to pages with maps, diagrams, photos, tables; explain the key terms with the link, so that people who do not know the language can still interpret them

How is the air quality / pollution?

Apart from the occasional VOG, how fresh is the air? How can we include air quality information? 99.190.133.143 (talk) 22:14, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Air pollution is a problem, though not as severe as in Mexico City. Puebla is in a bowl with industry, and the public transit system relies on diesel.

Puebla, PueblaPuebla City – Per WP:COMMONNAME and essentially for the same reasons as this move of "Chihuahua, Chihuahua" to "Chihuahua City" and this move of "Oaxaca, Oaxaca" to "Oaxaca City". Nobody calls it Puebla City

As a native speaker of English living in Mexico, let me assure you that everyone calls the city Puebla (and we call the cities of Oaxaca and Chihuahua, Oaxaca and Chihuahua). In order to distinguish the state we say "Puebla State", "Oaxaca State" and "Chihuahua State". As per WP:COMMONNAME I am sure I could find backup evidence for this. Does anyone agree that I should pursue this discussion again? Keizers (talk) 00:02, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

Puebla CityPuebla – As per WP:COMMONNAME "Puebla" is used most commonly to refer to the city. Puebla State (or Puebla state) would be more commonly used to indicate the state. Keizers (talk) 00:08, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

  • Oppose. A) This RM is malformed. B) Nobody calls Puebla "Puebla State", it is simply known as Puebla. C) If "Puebla City" is incorrect, it should be moved to Puebla (city) or Puebla, Puebla. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 01:47, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Oppose per Tbhotch. The target is taken, and a primarytopic claim here would be silly. Dicklyon (talk) 05:46, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Close - malformed if there were a primary topic it'd be the state. At the most Puebla (disambiguation) should be moved to the baseline, and the state moved out to Puebla (state). Not sure if would support that or not. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:07, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

Puebla CityPuebla (city) – Previous comments above suggest this city is known as simply "Puebla", but there is not consensus to move "Puebla City" to "Puebla". Therefore, we should disambiguate as "Puebla (city)", no? --Another Believer (Talk) 06:11, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

@Keizers, Tbhotch, Dicklyon, and In ictu oculi: Pinging since you participated in the above discussion. ---Another Believer (Talk) 06:14, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Comment There was also Talk:Gorontalo (city)#Requested move 29 October 2018 for a city in India. Crouch, Swale (talk) 15:34, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Neutral – the naturally disambiguated "Puebla City" is not uncommon in sources, so probably OK here, too. Dicklyon (talk) 18:53, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Comment WP:CONSISTENCY is one element of WP:NAMING. Similar articles include Aguascalientes City, Chihuahua City, Colima City, Guanajuato City, Querétaro City, San Luis Potosí City, Tlaxcala City, Veracruz (city), and Zacatecas City. These articles are all about other Mexican cities which share names with their states, so Puebla City fits this scheme. On the other hand, this scheme violates the rule, don't capitalize in the title unless it is natural to capitalize it in the name. "Puebla City" is not a name, "city" is a disambiguator, so it should not be capitalized. Should we adhere to consistency when the predominate scheme violates another naming policy? Should these other articles be renamed? Also, moving "Puebla City" to Puebla is not possible since there is an article named Puebla for the state. Oldsanfelipe (talk) 15:38, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Support per nom. —  AjaxSmack  00:45, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Support and other Mexican cities in the form "Foo City", where it isn't a commonly used name in English, should be moved to (city). E.g. Mexico City should stay at its current title because the "City" form is widely used. feminist (talk) 15:57, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Support – Puebla City is not commonly used. The city is referred to as "Puebla" just like the state. Adding "(city)" will make it more accurate. MX () 04:47, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
