Comment on Spanish Steps
editSuggested addition: --- Although not mentioned on the album, Spanish Steps is based on the theme of Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. --- 83.251.138.136 (talk) 08:29, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
The Mystery
editThis has the same tune as 'Haunts of Ancient Peace' from Common One. Most people probably don't notice because the tempo is radically different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.102.82.58 (talk) 10:27, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Hinton - "Rodriguez"
editDid Hinton really refer to "Rodriguez" in describing "Spanish Steps"? Who is Rodriguez? Or is that a typo and did he really refer to "Rodrigo" (as per the comment above), which would also fit with Hinton's citation to Sketches of Spain. Someone who has the book needs to clarify. - The quote is exactly as stated in the article, and I do have the book! (Perhaps only my copy has a typo, in which case maybe it's worth more than I paid for it.) Thanks for your vigilance and interest in the Van Morrison talk pages. Agadant (talk) 09:56, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- My copy says Rodriguez as well. My guess is it's a typo that no one noticed. Kitchen roll (talk) 16:49, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Rodrigo
editShould the Hinton mistake be rectified? It's hard to make reference to his book when he writes about music, because there are a lot of mistakes throughout, as pointed out by Morrison himself. The Joaquin Rodrigo guitar concertos seem the closest thing to any "Rodriguez" I can find. I've checked on wikipedia and google for any guitar concertos writen by a Rodriguez but all the ones I can find missquote the name too. Cheers Kitchen roll (talk) 18:37, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
