Talk:Piano Concerto (Khachaturian)

Premiere was possibly earlier

edit

I noticed two independent sources that claim the actual premiere of this piece was on July 5, 1937 in Leningrad: http://www.classical-composers.org/comp/khachatu as well as the annotations edited by grammy-winning Rory Guy on the LP version of Leonard Pennario and Felix Slatkin's EMI recording with the Concert Arts Orchestra.

However, this article claims the premiere was July 12, 1937 in Moscow, and cites it source: http://home.wanadoo.nl/ovar/kachcata.htm . I as well found another source that agrees with this online: http://www.khachaturian.am/eng/works/koncert.htm

I checked scholarly databases (Grove Music and JSTOR) and they don't seem to have an opinion. Methegreat (talk) 01:09, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tempo of first movement

edit

According to Boosey & Hawkes' miniature score edition (copyright of 1946) the first movement has just "Allegro maestoso", not "Allegro ma non troppo e maestoso" as written in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.1.31.206 (talk) 07:57, 31 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
