Merge with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 edit

This article is unneccessary by itself as it is a direct adaptation of the game it is based on, with any actual information about it just consisting of those already on the game's article and the episode list (the latter of which has its own problems with stubborn users refusing to simplify it.) Odd edits to page edit

How come whenever I come back to this article or the list of episodes something's been done to it that makes absolutely no sense in regards to the way things are actually done on Wikipedia? There was absolutely no reason to move this page (and related ones) to the title "Persona 4: the Animation" because WP:MOSCAPS says "For titles with subtitles or parenthetical phrases, capitalize as if they were separate titles" so "the" would be capitalized on this page.

The cast section had completely wrong references for the characters' pages on the old p4a website. For whatever reason they were pointing to the minor characters' pages and someone copied the page for one person twice for no reason.

Also, there is no reason to presently have a separate article for the sequel/remake/whatever Golden is because there is no information there that was different from what was presented here other than having a single episode entry ready, so I've redirected it here in the mean time.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 07:24, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hmm so we're not having a separate episode list for Golden then? Not that I have the time to work on one anyway, just wondering. —KirtZMessage 10:49, 6 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I don't see how you came to that conclusion.
  1. I moved List of Persona 4: the Golden Animation episodes to Persona 4: the Golden Animation because because there's no reason to have an episode list at this stage anyway, and then to Persona 4: The Golden Animation because of MOSCAPS.
  2. I redirected "Persona 4: The Golden Animation" to this article because there was nothing on the article of note to keep it separate.
  3. At some point, likely when the show begins broadcasting, Persona 4: The Golden Animation can serve as the episode list and article unless either gets too big for the other.

I think since Persona 4: The Animation features information pertaining to both series, it would make more sense to keep Persona 4: The Golden Animation as a redirect to this article and use List of Persona 4: The Golden Animation episodes as the actual episode list. There's no reason to have a list of episodes page without a corresponding article. Just use that page as the list of episodes instead like it's a season list or whatever.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 16:02, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well the point is Persona 4: The Animation would be the corresponding article, containing information about both of the series. Much like how both Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal's episode lists correspond to the original manga's article, as well as all the Dragon Ball series. Wonchop (talk) 17:20, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, no, because Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT have their own pages, while P4G's anime will not. It's going to be like how the JoJo pages are set up for part 3.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 17:51, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps 'Kai' would be a better example since that redirects to DBZ whilst its episode list is a 'List of' article. Well you know what I'm getting at. When people go to Persona 4: The Golden Animation, they would be redirected to the Persona 4: The Animation page, where they learn the essential details concerning the anime and its history, and then they can go on to the episode list. Set up List of Persona 4: The Golden Animation episodes for tomorrow's debut, with Persona 4: The Golden Animation remaining as a redirect to the main page since that's where the main information about the series is. 21:37, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

As far as the actual episode list formatting goes, a few suggestions. One, avoid doing the whole 'subsection per episode' thing. Just... no. Second, try and limit mentions of the Velvet Rooms to times where they significally have an impact on the episode's storyline (eg. Igor teaches Yu about fusion, which he uses later on in the episode), as opposed to stuff that is just routine to each episode. It'll probably have a bit more involvement than the previous adaptation due to Marie, but something to bear in mind to keep the summaries flowing. Wonchop (talk) 00:58, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well we don't know how they're going to be formatting the episodes this time around. And Margaret's tarot stuff usually had some prevalence in the episode at hand like a new persona Yu got or whatever. And sections just make for easier updating.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 01:51, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Easier updating doesn't neccessarily make for better articles. Wonchop (talk) 20:40, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
What does it matter how the page looks so long as we get the information across to he reader?—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 03:51, 10 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, from what I can tell from watching the first episode, Golden seems to be less of an exact retelling of the first series and more of an abridged version with a focus on new scenarios. The Velvet Room and Marie stuff is decently interwoven into the story so it doesn't look like line breaks will be neccessary for this one. Wonchop (talk) 19:28, 10 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Image switch edit

I've switched out the volume 1 DVD cover (which only shows the player character) for a promotional poster/key visual/I'm not sure what that was released for the first series. I've also replaced the DVD cover on the episode list. I figure that this image does a better job of allowing for identification of the subject than the DVD cover which was just Yu Narukami's bust on a solid yellow background. I'm opening the floor for discussion on this, because the opposite change was recently made for the P4GA episode list and I reverted that, as I felt that such a change to the other series' DVD covers was unwarranted considering the cover art lacks just as much contextual significance in that situation as it did in this one.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 00:25, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
