Pau Torres (footballer, born 1997)Pau Torres – Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, Pau Torres (footballer, born 1987) is a relatively unknown player coming to the 1997 one, and is on the verge of the retirement. BRDude70 (talk) 23:25, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Support on the basis that the 1997 player is averaging 200+ daily page views, while the 1987 player is around 6. That is fairly conclusive to me with regards to establishing a primary topic. A hatnote to the 1987 player would easily suffice, as there are no other articles for people by this name. Bungle (talkcontribs) 18:25, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose - page views are not indicative of something being a PRIMARYTOPIC. GiantSnowman 18:24, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@GiantSnowman: With respect, when it's 200+ vs 6 daily average, I think it's difficult to dispute. During late Sept/early Oct, a number of days this person was getting around or over 1000+ a day (yes, that is exceptional, but a consistent average far exceeding the 1987 player). I appreciate reservations when a PT is judged on average page views, but when the gap is as significant (and consistently so) as this, it's a tough one to question. Please could you elaborate why you don't think this is significant to the discussion? Bungle (talkcontribs) 07:16, 11 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
because people spend some time in the news and readers want to read about them. Imagine a mass murderer killing 50 people, called Abraham Lincoln. I imagine his page would get far more page views at that time than the politician... GiantSnowman 07:50, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@GiantSnowman: I wonder if you have reviewed the pageview history of these articles before making your judgement? Looking at the page views last year (2020), it was 373 vs 9 on the average daily. This year (2021), it's 873 vs 25 for the daily average. This isn't someone who has only recently been of particular interest, yet you need to go back over 2 years to when the gap was closer, but still moderate. I am indifferent as to whether the article moves or not, but it does satisfy WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Bungle (talkcontribs) 17:07, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
