1972 Reassessment
editThis article claims his remains were measured at 8'-1" in 1972. This is not true. I read the book The Irish Giant and the scientists did dig up the skeleton but admitted they could not make a reliable estimate of his height, due to various issues. The height 8-1 was inscribed on his coffin, which Guinness took as his "new" height, ignoring the fact that the book states a doctor measured him at 7'-10 1/2" while he was alive.
