Recreating article after pervious delete edit

Recreated this article. This important concept deserves a detailed article on wikipedia. Trying to include more info. Ulner (talk) 16:16, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

What is  , and why use " " instead of " "? Greetings, --Qaswed-Ger (talk) 12:11, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Opportunities for improvement edit

Greetings Wikipedians! This is the metric selected by the U.S. Department of the Treasury for its "Daily Treasury Yield Curve" (published here daily) so it must be important. I'll try to improve the article and welcome others' thoughts.

  • The lead confuses me with its reference to coupon. Shouldn't it say something like "the yield of a bond when it trades at par value, considering only coupon payments and not the receipt of proceeds at maturity?"
  • I understand the formula, but this article does not explain its significance and applications. It should answer questions such as:
  1. why and how would one want to use this metric instead of other ways of measuring a bond's yield?
  2. how does it differ from current yield, yield to maturity (redemption yield), etc?
  • The references are not helpful. One is a dead link and the other has no URL.

My qualifications for this assignment are shown on my user page. Meliora! Cordially, BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 11:22, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Substantial rewrite complete edit

After research (including actually purchasing a used copy of the Martinelli book), I have completed the rewrite mentioned above under Opportunities for Improvement. The "permanent dead link" to Cuesta mentioned in the prior version has been preserved. I'm not sure what text it supported, and I'm not sure if the reference to designing bonds and interest rate swaps is accurate or not. But I found enough support in the references cited that I'm comfortable with the rest.

I noticed that the Yield Curve Wiki article makes no mention of the distinction between par value yield curves and yield-to-maturity yield curves. This should be corrected. I welcome any comments. Cordially, BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 17:57, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
