Hordy vs Hody

edit

Hi. There seems to have been an edit war regarding the use of Hody vs Hordy for the villains name. Oda himself has confirmed that its official spelling is Hody. However, Funimation, the licensor of One Piece, has rendered it as Hordy. I think we should use the Funimation spellings for this page. Thoughts or objections? I feel that we should stick to Oda's original name for the character. Using your logic someone could justify changing every mention of Zoro's name to Zolo because 4Kids was the original distributor of One Piece to the states. In Japan he is known as Zoro, why should he be known as anything else, the same goes for Hody. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OneBucPerson (talkcontribs) 08:42, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

According to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(anime-_and_manga-related_articles)#Characters
  • Regarding names:
    • Characters should be identified by the names used in the official English releases of the series. If there are multiple English releases, such as both a manga and anime, use the one that is best known and that has contributed most to the work's becoming known in the English-speaking world (usually the primary work).
    • If there is no official title, Characters should be identified by their most commonly known name, as per Wikipedia's naming conventions.
    • Character names should be given in western order and, in the case of a dictionary list, in boldface.
I suggest citing the source where the author insists or clarifies that the English spelling of the name should be Hody, but do not count if the anime itself has the English text "Hody" in it, in case it's a romanization like Aeka or Kuririn. If both are acceptable spellings, you can list a footnote with the detailing. If the character is notable for the List of One Piece characters then add the footnote and anchor there too. If it's just for this article season 15, then favor the English anime spelling. If you want to avoid the controversy you can reference him by his last name Jones, assuming there aren't others in that section. AngusWOOF (talk) 05:38, 17 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
ok found this preview from the viz website, confirms Viz is going with Hody spelling. So the main character list can show Hody to favor the official manga spelling: http://shonenjump.viz.com/node/500 I still think for anime purposes, such as this article, it should be spelled Hordy.AngusWOOF (talk) 19:04, 17 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good to me. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 06:17, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in List of One Piece episodes (season 15)

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of One Piece episodes (season 15)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "t-ep" in group "n":

  • From List of One Piece episodes (season 9): Episode number by Toei Animation's count
  • From List of One Piece episodes (season 7): Episodes were initially released in English on DVD, but to correspond with the Japanese column, the airdates here will refer to their first English television airings on Toonami, unless otherwise noted. DVD dates are used for episodes 196 through 206 as they did not air on television in English. For further information on DVD releases, please refer to to the "Home Releases" section of this page.
  • From List of One Piece episodes (season 8): Episodes were initially released in English on DVD, but to correspond with the Japanese column, the airdates here will refer to their first English television airings on Toonami. For information on DVD releases, please refer to to the "Home Releases" section of this page.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 06:17, 17 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
