While the current version of this page delves into the details of the mythical stories associated with Onam (the more popular story of Mahabali and his homecoming, as well as the less popular story of Parasurama), it mentions next to nothing about Onam also being a harvest festival. Terms like "Onakkoythu" and the many Onam songs with the focus on "poove" & "poli" instead of any mythical stories indicate that Onam was also celebrated as a harvest festival (or that the harvest/cultural aspects mixed together with the religious aspects over time). 134.96.82.140 (talk) 15:23, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
A separate section for "Onam and Islam" is unnecessary (except for religious fanatics from either sides who want to propagate their narratives). - The need for a standalone article was high and hence the cultural section will not be able to contain it in detail. Also, the connection between Islam and Onam goes back to almost more than a century. Hence, it is to be done as a seperate article and a section summarizing the article per Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Thanks.
