Chinese name

edit

According to "德州簡訊." (Archive) by the Epoch Times, "North Forest" is "北森" so the Chinese name would be "北森獨立學區." WhisperToMe (talk) 14:12, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merger from R. E. Kirby Middle School

edit

In accordance with WP:WPSCHOOLS/AG#N, middle schools should be merged into the district page unless there is significant coverage in reliable sources. R. E. Kirby Middle School doesn't seem to even be open anymore. It isn't listed in the Texas school directory, and is mentioned in the closed campus list on the district page. If there is no discussion below, I expect to close this issue by Thursday Aug 16. The Jacobin (talk) 19:39, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

East and Mount Houston Independent School District

edit

According to:

  • The Peabody Reflector, Volume 32, Issue 4. George Peabody College for Teachers, 1959. p. 153.
  • "Mrs. Ethel D. Fairfield (B.S. '40, M.A. '42) has been named director of elementary education at East and Mount Houston Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Formerly, Mrs. Fairfield was director of the Laboratory School at[...]"

A forum user stated that East and Mount Houston Independent School District had "Mary Brantly High School" and "W. G. Smiley Junior High School" in the 1950s - http://archive.is/p10AA - I need to find sources about this.

Also there was the lawsuit "East and Mount Houston Independent School District v. South Texas Lumber Co., 153 Tex. 535, 271 S.W.2d 795;" - https://bulk.resource.org/courts.gov/c/F2/258/258.F2d.240.16912_1.html - http://archive.is/7Hjf5 WhisperToMe (talk) 08:38, 19 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Northeast Houston Independent School District

edit

There is a self-published book, but since AuthorHouse publishes it, it is not admissible as a source here. Nonetheless, the info may be a clue to find info in admissible sources.

    • Givens, p. 11.
      • "Nancy Givens appointed as a teacher of the Northeast Houston Independent School District for nine months, beginning September 1, 1969 and ending May 28, 1970, third grade at Mount Houston Elementary School. Therefore, the regulations and rules of the Trustee Board must be followed as outlined in Policies of the North Forest Houston Independent School District, and all administrative policies."

Japanese visit to North Forest

edit

Again, this is from a self-published book that is not admissible as an RS, but it can help find actual RSes.

  • Givens, p. 88
    • "Japanese Educators Tour North Forest" - "A delegation of educators from Japan's third largest city, Nagoya made an unprecedented visit to North Forest Independent School District in 1973. The visit was part of a project sponsored by the Ache [sic] Prefectural Board of Education in Japan. The visit marked the first time a Japanese delegation has ever visited schools in the southern United States. The group was making a comparative study of the United States and Japanese educational system [sic]. The group leader, [sic] arranged a monthly exchange of students' art work with the principal,a nd also left samples of the Japanese students' art."
