Untitled edit

FYI Anyone with information regarding Norman Elder - anecdotes, photos, paintings by him, etc. please contact Hamish Grant at bigdaddyhame@gmail.com - I am trying to collect information for a website devoted to Elder's memory.

Still looking for info edit

Also wanted: info on/from Duane Robertson, Ralph, Norm's date of birth, exact cause of death, etc would be welcome. Update the page or send it to Hamish if you are not sure of exact details. Norm would have wanted this. Thanks.

Duane, Ralph, Kerry, et al, please contact me at xxxx I have a few questions. Thanks.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Rubikslens (talkcontribs) 18:46, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey big daddy-o. Are you sure about the 'Sam'? I know the source. I saw it. Explorer's Club memorial. I just don't remember seeing that in Norm's passports. - —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rubikslens (talkcontribs) 17:40, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Elder as an artist edit

Perhaps a section on his art would be appropriate. Maybe we could hammer out something like this, then put it in the page:

Artist edit

Sculpture edit

Elder produced a number of works which were present in the museum. He worked in stone using hand tools and pneumatic chisel. His pieces included several busts, and a large life-sized figure which served as a shower.

Painting edit

He painted in oil, creating many unusual pieces. His subjects were animals (often horses), people and landscapes.

Illustration edit

Elder drew constantly. His illustrations appeared in both of his books, and accompanied numerous artifacts in the display cases in the museum. The subjects were usually maps, landscapes, people, and wildlife. He fill dozens of sketchbook which he carried wherever he went.

I'm not sure this is noteworthy. please fix this if you wish, as it is just a rough start.
