"Free grace" not sourced edit

The only source I could find that wasn't a blog or forum was a talk by Anderson[1]. Nothing else on the church's site mentions "free grace". This looks like someone's interpretation of their beliefs. Doug Weller talk 11:21, 25 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not properly sourced? edit

Much of the content of this article references thenewifb.com, which is a defunct website that was not owned by the movement. In other words, it's just some guy's opinion. The number of churches in the movement, for example, is based on a list that had non-existent churches in it and also excluded others. 140.186.158.26 (talk) 20:22, 22 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Infobox classification edit

Addressing the dispute over the main_classification parameter of the Infobox, this should, in fact, be Protestant. I understand the argument that followers of the movement deny this classification because they "do not claim lineage from the Catholic Church". However, how they personally view themselves does not really matter. They are a loose amalgamation of independent Baptists churches that splintered off of IFB, which was a split from denominational Baptist congregations, which form a major branch of Protestantism (see Baptists). Baptists are Protestant. ButlerBlog (talk) 21:10, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

SPLC source for "cult" descriptor edit

The source[2] used to say that the group has been described as "cult-like" is rather flimsy and essentially hearsay. While it's likely true that some people have described it as such, the SPLC article is describing one specific event and then attributing the quote to "some commenters" and one pastor describing another during a split in the church. I'd support using this source, but the original wording of what I removed[3] would need to be reworked more substantially without making it WP:UNDUE about a single event from a single source. Related to the above, I say "single source" because while there were previously two sources, I removed one in the previous edit[4] as it is self-published (Huffpost's "contributors" platform is essentially a blog with no oversight and is generally deemed unreliable as a source; see WP:RSP). Classification edit

To address the constant changing of the infobox |main_classification= parameter, the only correct value is Protestant. Per the template docs, this parameter is for the main classification. The only possibilities are Church of the East, Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, or Oriental Orthodox; and some might also accept Restorationist. From Wikipedia's article on Baptists: Baptists form a major branch of Protestantism distinguished by baptizing professing Christian believers only (believer's baptism), and doing so by complete immersion. That pretty well sums up what the primary classification is; and that opening statement is well supported by scholarly sources throughout the article. ButlerBlog (talk) 18:12, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
