  • ... that Napoleon's penis, which was cut off after his death, has been described as comparable to a "piece of leather or a shriveled eel"?
  • Comment: The alts are endless here...

  •   New enough, long enough, has secondary sources. Hook is sourced, earwig is cleared and nothing noticed in spotchecks. Passing now, happy to review ALTs if proposed before this gets promoted. CMD (talk) 12:41, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

A Suggestion edit

Hi Eddie891, I just saw your edit and was just thinking about this alternative: "Napoleon's penis was allegedly amputated during an autopsy shortly after his death in 1821." I have only skimmed over MOS:OPEN, but I believe this could avoid the redundancy and still link to the main article. I'm not sure though, which is why I haven't changed it. --LordPeterII (talk) 17:35, 26 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Category? edit

Most articles are in a few categories so it is easier to find related or similar ones.. just can't think of the right category for that?178.24.243.45 (talk) 21:53, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

No primary sources to confirm story edit

This is the first time I try to contribute to Wikipedia, but I don’t feel confident to change the main page. However, I think it is important to add some more information:

The Belgian podcast “Geschiedenis voor herbeginners” (History for restarters) has looked into the story about the cut off penis of Napoleon (episode 24-28). They found no primary sources that the alleged piece of tissue is really Napoleon’s. The official documents regarding Napoleon’s autopsy do not mention the removal of his penis. One of the documents does state the removal of some pieces of rib. Lifelonglearner3 (talk) 13:20, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

This is a good point to bring up. The article, I think, already emphasizes this a bit, saying that it was ‘allegedly’ cut off and in the body including the sentence ‘Napoleon's biographer, Philip Dwyer, calls the claim that Antommarchi cut off the penis "highly fanciful."’ Do you think more should be added? Happy to do so, but I think there may already be enough Eddie891 Talk Work 14:03, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
That is true, but the fact that it is not even mentioned in the multiple reports about his autopsy (both from French and English people) was important to me. It makes the whole story a lot less credible. This is the link to the Podcast https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jonas-goossenaerts/. Unfortunately, there is no transcription of the podcast available. Lifelonglearner3 (talk) 07:54, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
