Cleanup of this article edit

As per classes, I have placed the cleanup tag on this page. Please aid in cleanup. AEMoreira042281 20:26, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I rated this as Start-class mostly because of three things:
  1. The article is 41kb long but only shows 3 references.
  2. The article has many lists and tables, but not much prose.
  3. The history section need expansion.
That the article is mostly unreferenced is the biggest criticism. If you can address any of these issues, I would move it up to B-class right away. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 21:34, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

On that, the one issue I am unsure of what to resolve is the roster, which is updated as buses are moved around. As for the rest of the article, I am sourcing it, although the New Jersey Transit website and an unofficial site are my two main sources.

If there is something that should be cites, please tag it with {{fact}}, other than the roster which is frequently updated and changed. AEMoreira042281 04:38, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

If the roster changes frequently, I would suggest that it may not be suitable for an encyclopedia article. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 17:51, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Roster has been removed, but depot assignments remain, as they are sourced. AEMoreira042281 06:29, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Roster not adequately sourced edit

I suggest removing the roster, because a) A fansite is used as the only source 2) this is subject to frequent change 19:21, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Raryel

If there's going to be a new source for the bus roster, it would be nice if there was a link to it. I understand why it's not suitable for Wikipedia, but I found it very useful. Is it possible to provide a link for that information as an external link? Ctrabs74 12:26, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Separate routes into a new article? edit

This article is becoming very long. If done, PDF links will be added to the route numbers. (The article would be New Jersey Transit bus routes.) AEMoreira042281 03:45, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

You could model it after list of bus routes in Manhattan, split into two articles by division. Do you know anything about their history as streetcar lines? According to [1] (ca. 1926) the Public Service Railway split the numbering at Trenton; is that where the divisions are split? (See [2] for a rough map of Public Service.) [3] and its "past and present" links has some historic information. --NE2 04:31, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll start the new list, for now at Talk:New Jersey Transit Bus Operations/temporary. --NE2 13:59, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Partial list of former and current private companies edit

Feel free to edit this. --NE2 10:56, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Current

(I removed some of the operators listed who do not operate service for NJT or operate service within the state.)Ctrabs74 22:28, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Rockland Coaches and Red & Tan in Hudson County are two separate operators, and have their own articles. In addition, the #22 Hillside info is in the Academy Bus article. Carefree Bus may not end up meeting [[WP:N|notability requirements. All operators linked via the {{NYC surface transit}} template have articles, except for ShortLine.
Former

I saw another article on the Short Line Bus company, but I can't remember where I saw it. It was a stub, and as far as I can recall, it had nothing to do with Coach USA ---- DanTD 01:11, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

PABCO NJT codes edit

Per contact with NJ Transit, the MCM-X routes do have internal NJT numbers, starting with 87X, e.g. route MCM1 (or route 1, as the bus displays have it) is route 871, MCM2 is 872, ad libitum. These numbers coincide with the TXXXX code on the rear flap of printed NJT bus timetables (e.g. the former route B1 had the T0751 code in print prior to the institution of all-numeric designations, et cetera). 71.241.121.58 07:22, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could you please add a section explaining about the zones used for ticketing? Is each municipality one zone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.140.50.202 (talk) 05:22, August 30, 2007 (UTC)
