President

edit

All the time, it seems like I read about how the NHL for years had a "President," and then Bettman came along and he was made the "Commissioner." Generally this is noted as though it is really significant. I don't really get it. I think it would be useful on this article to have someone explain what the purported difference is beyond the choice of label. MrArticleOne (talk) 14:17, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I rememberd this. The office of NHL President was abolished during the summer of 1993, with it's duties being merged into the office of NHL Commissioner. From February 1, 1993 to July 1, 1993, the NHL had both offices concurrently - Comish Gary Bettman & Prez Gil Stein. In theory, this article could be seperated into NHL Commissioner & NHL President. This article and History of are small enough that they should merge. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 19:18, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

What would be the next step here? Assuming consensus to merge, do you make 'History of' a redirect? or do a PROD? ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 20:47, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

The usual practice would be to make 'History of' a redirect, so as to maintain the edit history. See Help:Merging. Cnilep (talk) 16:30, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
