The Strawberry Shortcake handbag edit

Kylie's mother says in one of the articles that Kylie had the SS handbag with her when she left to get the sugar. It's pretty obvious she brought the handbag with her to carry the sugar back in. Paul Austin (talk) 10:21, 28 December 2014 (UTC) Edit: this article from the Canberra Times states that Kylie put the sugar in the carrybag/handbag. That's a useful reference. I don't know what a "carrybag" is, the nearest is "carrier bag" which would not be what is described elsewhere as a "Strawberry Shortcake purse" - and which, incidentally was recovered.
I was imagining an item such as this, but there is a wide variety of SS merchandise that fits the description.
The other piece of common-sense information is whether the bag of sugar would fit. At 90c it was probably a 2.2 lb bag, (then prices were Hobart: 134.0 for 2 kg = 4.4. lb, Victoria: 90c in 1980 for 2 kg)>

Merry Xmas. one of the 1980s SS toys listed here on Wiki is a "Berry-Shaped Carry Case" - according to my sister, basically a fancy name for a toy handbag or little girl's purse. Since most women would have called it a purse, I'm not surprised that's what we see in Kylie's press articles. Paul Austin (talk) 16:11, 28 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
It is worth noting that this material was in an earlier draft and that I removed it on the basis of the specific naming of it as a "Strawberry Shortcake" handbag without any sort of clear indication that such a handbag is different in kind or quality than other such bags struck me as being, perhaps, almost inappropriate product promotion. A name brand in and of itself is not necessarily important for an article, particularly if the product itself is otherwise somewhat generic. So far as I know, there are a number of "handbags" for younger girls, including evidently this kind, Hello Kitty trademarked merchandise, and somewhat trendy products based on currently popular Disney characters. If it is true that Strawberry Shortcake handbags in particular are substantively different enough from other such items for the product name to be a reasonable indicator of specific variations on the standard and that those distinctions are important to the rest of the content of the article, of course, then there would be no particular reason to not include the name. Given that the type of bag is probably irrelevant to her death, and the article, the easiest solution is not to mention it at all. Mitch Ames (talk) 03:12, 26 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

(late to the party) my view is that if the bag received significant coverage we can include it. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 20:41, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Mark Maybury edit

I feel like it might be helpful either to remove the fact that the uncle was in prison or to mention what he was in prison for - I got confused reading the current text and wondering why he was in prison if he was just a suspect. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 16:22, 28 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

committal edit

The committal is next week - am not sure what could be the broader themes are in terms of if ever there is a book, but it's an interesting case re DNA evidence and the horrific impact the crime had on the family too. Paul Benjamin Austin (talk) 23:28, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Expanding edit

Material to add:

  • approximate time of disappearance
  • who found her body
  • Any details on how Davies came under suspicion
  • Davies' background
  • Where in Preston this all happened (streets)

anyway, good luck. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 20:44, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Keith Moor's chapter on Kylie in the new Mugshots 3 edit

I've just started reading the chapter on Kylie in Moor's new book. Why he felt the need to describe Kylie as "gorgeous" i don't know. You describe a lads' mag sexpot as "gorgeous" but a six-year old girl? Not so much... Paul Benjamin Austin (talk) 23:55, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
