Talk:Moustiers-Sainte-Marie

The first reference from la Bastide has some interesting historical information that I would like to incorporate if I found another corroborating reference. RosinDebow 05:59, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The star has been replaced edit

The reference says "The size of the star has varied through the centuries, from 1m80 to 30 cm. The chain is 225m long and the present star 1m15" which contradicts the article's claim that "The star has never been replaced..."

Here is good picture of the present star of Moustiers, is that "1957" scratched on it? Cuddlyable3 (talk) 13:32, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Couldn't get that link to work, but "1957" isn't totally at variance with the new reference "vieille de cinquante ans" — fifty years of age. --Old Moonraker (talk) 12:08, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I have difficulty with that French site too. But here is another site with a picture and information about the star, in English:
According to the legend popularised by Provençal poet Frédéric Mistral, the knight Bozon de Blacas was held captive by the Saracens in the 10th century and pledged to hang a star above his village if he could ever return home safely. The star that shines above Moustiers today is only fifty years old but was painted gold following an unfortunate fall ten years ago. Worn thin by the wind, the forged [chain] had snapped sending the star crashing into the ravine below. One month later, the star was once again hung above the village.
The site is (C) Tourist Office of Moustiers Sainte Marie. I have added the information to the article. Cuddlyable3 (talk) 19:12, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
