Unsourced updates edit

An anonymous user added an unsourced section on climate and changed the population data to 2006 census numbers. The section is in the article's history, but because there was no source information I (reluctantly) deleted it. If anyone can substantiate the facts and figures with a source, please re-add this information. -- Rick Block (talk) 17:11, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

In trying to verify this data, I found http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/summary/Climsmco.html, which has historical climate data for two different reporting stations in Monument. -- Rick Block (talk) 17:13, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Incorporation - when? edit

I have two apparently reliable sources that give two different dates of incorporation for Monument:

  1. June 2, 1879: http://www.townofmonument.net/Admin_town_history.asp:

Monument has been an incorporated town since June 2, 1879. The first town meeting was held July 3, 1879.

  2. May 14, 1881: "Colorado Municipal Incorporations" (HTML). State of Colorado, Department of Personnel & Administration, Colorado State Archives. 2004-12-01. Retrieved 2007-09-02. {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |date= (help)

Anyone know which is right, or if somehow both are?

Thanks! -- Ken g6 (talk) 05:13, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

What was the town really named after? edit

I am doubting that the town of Monument was named after Monument Creek. The way I heard it, it was named after Monument Rock. (http://www.mountainzone.com/mountains/detail.asp?fid=974745) The creek was also named after the rock. Anyone have verifiable information on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.70.110.33 (talk) 02:11, 29 August 2008 (UTC) The city was named after the large sandstone rock outcropping just west of the city on Mount Herman Road. missing a mention of the challenger flag edit

I just watched Romney mention the Challenger flag at a rally in Newport News, Va. Went to this page and could find it. I found a separate page on the Challenger flag, that does mention Monument, Co. Svanriesen (talk) 03:21, 5 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Book based off of the town edit

Is there any way that the book Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne. Could you mention this in the applicable section if it belongs in this article? Sanjujampana (talk) 01:06, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Someone keeps adding her name to the notable people. According to the Wikipedia guide she does not meet the requirements for listing as a notable person. Also erroneously links to a completely different different Wikipedia is not the place to self promote. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not Stephen VanDyke (talk) 00:30, 1 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Someone has now added it back with a note that says "Steven VanDick is a troll" Personal attacks are completely unnecessary and childish. I am recommending this page be locked for a period due to the abuse going on. Stephen VanDyke (talk) 01:30, 1 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Monument, Colorado edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Monument, Colorado's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "auto":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT 23:15, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
