Preliminary thoughts on GA potential edit

This seems to me to be in the neighborhood, but still has a few things to do before GA nomination.

  • The lead could use another 2-3 sentences I think.
  • Claims that shade on opinion ("most difficult") or involve things like "first to do such and so" should probably be sourced with inline citations.
  • The number of one-sentence paragraphs should be greatly reduced per WP:LAYOUT.
  • Since Underhill is dead, I think you should be able to write a fair-use rationale for a photograph of her and add one to the article. You might check with Crisco 1492 about this--he's always savvier on this subject than I am.
  • The quotation "five outstanding summits over 4000 meters in superb surroundings" should probably have its source named in-text as well for neutrality reasons (as a minor opinion). This also may be minor SYNTH if the source doesn't specifically mention Underhill.
  • Appalachia needs DAB
  • The quotations under "writer and editor" should have inline citations and ideally page numbers.
  • Print publications (magazines, books) should be italicized in the references
