With the new book, Parish Priest, out, I hope we can add to this page. Has anyone read it yet?

Parish Priest Redirect

edit

I'm removing the redirect from "Parish Priest" as it implys that Michael J. McGivney is the only Parish Priest while it actualy refers to many PP's worldwide.

I created a disambig page for Parish Priest.Briancua 14:59, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

McGivney - a Jesuit

edit

I've added the abbreviation "SJ" next to McGivney as it is a known fact that he was a Jesuit User:DYBoulet July 17 2007 11:43 AM (AST)

No, he wasn't. I deleted the initials. --Briancua 15:19, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Anachronism?

edit

This sentence strikes me as odd:

He later returned to the seminary and was ordained a priest on 1877 December 22, by Archbishop James Gibbons at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Namely the cathedral was not called that in 1877. If I knew the proper term, I would perhaps replace it with a link like this: Baltimore's Cathedral of the Assumption. Any other thoughts? — Eoghanacht talk 11:38, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, if we're sure it wasn't called that then, but we don't know what it was called, we could possibly temporize with "ordained... at the Baltimore cathedral now known as the Basilica of the National Shrine..." etc. etc., or something in that vein. umrguy42 00:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The building's website timeline states that it became a minor bascilia in 1937. The 1907 Catholic Encyclopedia article for Baltimore simply calls in the "Baltimore Cathedral". I am making the change. — Eoghanacht talk 17:24, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • The requesting editor's declaration of a conflict of interest covers two articles, neither of which are the present article. Due to the passage of time, if an editor has a conflict of interest with the Red Cross, that should not prevent them from editing the article on Henry Dunant, just as an employee of AT&T ought not to be prevented from editing the article on Alexander Graham Bell. The connection between McGivney and the Knights of Columbus is likewise separated by a long period of time and many succeeding periods of leaders so much so that the liklihood of bias is minimal.
  • Coupled with the above is the fact that the WP:BURDEN lies on the editor wishing to include the category. If this inclusion's burden has not been met, then the requesting editor is free to remove it themself. Regards,  Spintendo  07:40, 19 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
