SRL Airport/Melbourne Airport rail link edit

Currently, there’s a government review into the budget blowouts regarding infrastructure projects in Victoria and the Big Build overall (if you’ve been living under a rock recently, the recent Victorian budget has projected unprecedented levels of public debt). Once this is complete, and there is more information about the airport line project and whether it remains to be a part of the Suburban Rail Loop project, I think that this article should mention that the line is meant to be a stage of that project, hence why the project has also recently been known as “SRL Airport”. At the moment though, we should keep the article as is until more information comes to light (i.e. keep the overall status quo for now, but any information from up until this date added would be fine). By information up until this date, I mean any information regarding the project pause/delays. Fork99 (talk) 04:12, 27 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
From what I've read the Commonwealth review relates to all federally-funded projects nation-wide, not just the Victorian Big Build, and seems to be more related to reducing federal expenditure. The Airport line already has a little section on the SRL page, and there's a few sentences on this page but you're right that it's not very clear the relationship between the two. I think you're right it's best to wait until it's been clarified what's happening with the project, in the meantime I have slightly expanded the mention of the SRL in the lede because it didn't actually have a link to the project or explain the acronym. I've created a new 'project delay' section and added the recent news, which editors can add to as more comes out. Gracchus250 (talk) 08:32, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
