This removal of uncited claims reminded me that there are at least two other Max Flesichers: an Austrian architect born 1841; and a German painter and botanist born 1861. Where was this guy born?

As of 10 March 2012, the caption on Max Fleischer's picture says that he was born in Krakow (in Poland). The body of the article says that he was born in Vienna (in Austria) which is most definitely not the same city, located far to the west of Krakow. The body of the article goes on to say that the city of Vienna is located in Galicia, a statement which is most definitely not true.

Over the years, the customary and/or official boundaries of Galicia have changed more than once. The city of Vienna has never been part of Galicia. On the other hand, some interpretations would indicate that the city of Krakow was part of Galicia at the time of Fleischer's birth in the 1880s, even though present-day Galicia is usually defined as being part of Ukraine, noticeably farther east than Krakow.

Copy Editing

I edited a few of the opening paragraphs for clarity. I am at a loss to know what to do with this section: "His family emigrated to the USA in 1887, settling in New York City, where he attended public school. He spent his formative years in Brownsville, a poor neighborhood in Brooklyn, and attended Evening High School before receiving commercial art training at Cooper Union; he also attended The Mechanics and Tradesman's School."

What and when were his "formative years"? Did he graduate from high school or from the other two schools? I think this section needs some dates, too, so it can be separated into two sentences.
