If, as I suspect, Matthews Beach was annexed to the city along with Lake City in 1953 (and if someone could verify that) it should be added to the article. -- Jmabel | Talk 01:13, July 16, 2005 (UTC)

Summary: +, cit, so cl, rephrased; see Talk.
Explication: See Talk:Seattle, Citing sources.

Accuracy:
Matthews Beach wrt ["with respect to" acronym] Lake City referenced. First sentence might be two. (We know we're in Washington State, that's in the article title. 'Interrupts the flow of description between Seattle and Lake City.)
Boundaries descriptions and adjacent neighborhoods names are equivalent, so conjunction other than "and".
Numbers less than one hundred are generally written in words (incidentally distinguishing them from numbered items or maths at a glance). Particularly with few syllables, this makes for smoother reading.
"[O]ften consider themselves belonging to" {{Citation needed}}

For safety (passenger ease), range, and scarcity of capable on-land airports, the first commercial air transports over ocean were neceessarily amphibious--others did not exist 'till WWII-era air corps development.
The documented allusions provide a less than dry aspect.

Note re. Street layout of Seattle provides references for accuracy. Redundancy may be reduced.

"Thornton Creek empties at the southern end of the park, which has been partially rehabilitated to include a wildlife pond, native plants, and bird nesting areas that complement restoration in Meadowbrook"
The sentence is more readable with the subordinate clause, beginning with "which", preceeded with a comma. An evolving, defining characteristic of Matthews Beach--Meadowbrook--Wedgwood neighborhoods is the integrated habitat restoration that can be traced 'way back to "Wedgwood was the first Seattle neigborhood where considerable numbers of large trees were preserved when the neighborhood was built" [ Wedgwood ].

These minor achievements are spectacular small successes in nascent urban stewardship that help define these neighorhoods--and by them, Seattle. [Dolan & True]

Accuracy is a goal.

"[T]hese are the southern neighborhoods of the annexed town of Lake City (1954)" concisely provides historical context that helps characterize the neighborhood. How a neighborhood grew up has helped define what it is today.

The parenthetical of "[t]he (unofficial)[2] City Clerk's map shows" is redundant and interrupts the flow of the sentence. The footnote serves the purpose, and a subsequent paragraph incidentally elaborates. The "City Clerk's map" does not exactly belong to the City Clerk; it is more accurately a map held by the City Clerk, from various sources.

The descriptive sentence containing Street layout of Seattle is a useful link that is particularly relevant to content of metro neighborhoods articles, since such info is of particular interest to anyone wishing to navigate a city. Its codification has been a big deal in Seattle public works (cf. Phelps, Samson). The layout patterns of New York are famous. As such it is also a distinctive aspect of community character, demonstrably so with respect to that of different cultures.
