Doesn't appear to be notable off-the-cuff. Even if it is, it would more-reasonably be included as a section on matchmaking. An alternative merge target may be Xbox Live. Izno (talk) 03:20, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- Many of the articles that link to TrueSkill do not have to do with video games, and even though the article is sparse, the system itself is notable in that it has inspired other ranking systems. There also exists BSD licensed software package for TrueSkill [1], which implies that there are non-commercial projects using TrueSkill. So my hunch is that the article just needs to be updated a little, as opposed to merged. Brubsby (talk) 18:57, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Brubsby: Most of the articles that link to it do so because of the navboxes in which it is included, {{Sports rating systems}} and {{Microsoft Research}}. This is not a good argument regarding whether material should be merged.
- "inspired other ranking systems" doesn't make something notable; multiple independent reliable sources covering the topic in depth and showing its affect for a sustained period of time do (of which the present article contains none).
- It's probable that any non-commercial projects using it are (video) games, but I'm not going to go check--it's not relevant in the end, else a reliable source says it is. --Izno (talk) 19:18, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- Conditional Support - I would only support it if there was already a section on overall use of Elo in video games to which a mention of Trueskill could be added. Seems to be WP:UNDUE to make a whole section about it. I don't think it's notable enough for a standalone article, there's a pretty detailed article about it in IGN [2] but that's just a single article.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:27, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose There is an entire section on TrueSkill in the textbook "Machine Learning: A Probabilistic Perspective" by Kevin Murphy (as well as more brief discussions in several other machine learning textbooks). The TrueSkill research paper has almost 500 citations and is often considered the benchmark against which other ranking algorithms are compared, it was also published in NIPS ([3]), one of the top machine learning conferences.
