Photo of Spur? edit

I was looking for a photo of their large wing spurs - I'm not sure what images are eligible else I'd add one myself.

Question edit

Where can I find comprehensive information about Vanellus miles? I can only find scattered information about these particular birds. I have a particular interest in them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.133.220.106 (talk) 07:10, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

File:Vanellus miles novaehollandiae.jpg to appear as POTD soon edit

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Vanellus miles novaehollandiae.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on May 13, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-05-13. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 16:30, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles, ssp. novaehollandiae shown), also known as the Spur-winged Plover, is a common and conspicuous bird native to northern and eastern Australia, as well as New Zealand. They are most common around the edges of wetlands and in other moist, open environments, but are adaptable and can often be found in surprisingly arid areas.Photo: JJ Harrison
