Beginning of a great working relationship

This article is a wonderful addition to the Wikiproject Idaho. I am so excited about the resources and expertise ISHS staff bring. I know it got off to a rocky start with assumptions made about spamming, but thanks for persevering. I "WATCH" the following page to be made aware of Idaho related articles added. User:AlexNewArtBot/IdahoSearchResult I try to scan for other articles which may not have categories as I have time. Again, thanks for your participation. The aim of the project is

"primarily to expand Wikipedia's resources on Idaho and present the state in a fair and accurate manner."

Article

This is a great article on a notable Idaho publisher. I will not class this as a stub article. I made small edits to the writing, but not many. I (personally) look for repetitive phrases, passive voice, and unclear sentences when I edit. Hopefully, I make edits that enhance the article. If someone decides my changes are not helpful, they will be changed to something else. I did Wikify to hyper-link to other articles.

Additionally, I chose several categories for the article. These function as Subject Headings for Wikipedia. When placing the subject heading, I used the pipe (|) then the name as I want it to sort. Then when you view the category, the person is listed under the last name rather than the first name. --Robbie Giles 13:39, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Citation templates

I generally use citation templates in articles I edit. They are not required, but I am a visual learner and they work best for me. I just want to make you aware of their existence. The only change to the ref section I made was to add small tags. --Robbie Giles 13:39, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Photographs

Photographs on Wikipedia and Commons must be free use. This will require the ISHS to release them to the public domain. You mentioned watermarking of the photos, but unfortunately once something hits the internet, it may be appropriated and edited by anyone. (Imagine Margaret with a handlebar mustache.) One thought is to release one relatively small photograph (max 500 px) for the appropriate subject. These would illustrate the topic.

One example of a map I contributed is Mountain Meadows Massacre map. I worked beforehand with folks at the Commons to assure I was 1)respecting copyright, and 2) releasing the image for free use.

One example of my own photograph is Spring wheat. I sometimes ask for attribution for subsequent use of the image. It doesn't guarantee that others will comply, but it makes me feel important. I assume ISHS will ask for attribution, as I think this is pretty standard for commercial usage of your photos.

We can continue the discussion of images, and not rush to add photos that have to be removed as non-free images. I've gone down that road and it is very frustrating. --Robbie Giles 13:39, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
