Junk Bond Status and Bankruptcy

edit
  • Bronin became the first Mayor in the history of Hartford to pursue bankruptcy for the city resulting in Hartford's debt reaching "junk bond" status. [1] [2] Bronin had many of his budget powers curtailed by a new state oversight board that must approve all contracts over $100,000. [3] [4]

Per my revert and this edit, I have disputed whether or not the inclusion of this content meets WP:BLP. When I previously removed this material, I cited WP:SYNTH and still think that is what is at play here. I have checked and re-checked all the listed sources; none of them say (1) Bronin was the first mayor in Hartford history to pursue bankruptcy nor (2) the bankruptcy resulted in a junk-bond status for Hartford bonds. A third opinion is requested for whether this material should be removed because I do not seek to edit war.
At this risk of sound WP:POLEMIC, I just want to state for the record that I personally do think that the bankruptcy talks were a major factor in the downgrade to junk bond status, but my own thoughts have little meaning in this debate.
I'll inform the IP of this request if they would like to comment here at all. –MJLTalk 01:59, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, MJL. I've removed your 3O request because the issue should be discussed thoroughly on the talk page prior to an opinion being requested. 3O is used to hopefully resolve a standstill. If editors are refusing to engage in a discussion on the talk page and insist on edit warring, I'd suggest a method for resolving a user conduct dispute (some beginning options are discussed on WP:CONDUCTDISPUTE). I agree with striking this passage, as currently written it manipulates the information in the sources to suite an end. Saying that Bronin’s actions caused the city’s bond rating to sink into junk bond status is a bold statement, one that doesn't appear to be supported by the evidence (nor does there appear to be support for the first mayor to consider bankruptcy claim). On another note as soon as user 2602:252:D91:E650:1006:1361:4BC3:27F2 received a 24 hour ban the zombie account 76.28.11.198 jumped in to restore their edits. The account 76.28.11.198 began its wikipedia career in 2013 with highly disruptive edits of the page Eddie Perez (politician), Perez is currently challenging Bronin for the Mayor’s seat. Draw what conclusions you will from that. Horse Eye Jack (talk) 15:45, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
