Rancid never released an album on Lookout Records, instead, they were all issued on Epitaph. Rancid's precursor, Operation Ivy, originally released all their material on Lookout, but never Rancid. 98.221.141.21 (talk) 03:57, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Coincidence?

Operation Ivy is the name of a series of thermonuclear tests from the 1950's. It is notable becasue the tests were filmed by a company either called or on Lookout Mountain. Kind of odd that Lookout Records had Operation Ivy as a band. Headquarters 07:08, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Which part? You can look up the Operation Ivy article. On the article is says something about Lookout Mountain. I presume that was just a mountain where they filmed the Ivy Mike shot. I was wondering if anyone else had thought of this before. From reading the Lookout! article it seems like it would be a coincidence. Headquarters 17:45, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Independent?

Lookout! Record is on the list of RIAA member labels (also on the RIAA's own list). How come it's described as "independent"? --Yerpo 10:43, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

See independent record label for one of many definitions that would include Lookout! Also consider that the RIAA has a nasty habit of listing labels as members without consent of the label owner. See Fat Wreck Chords for an example. --Zytsef 04:41, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

COI declaration

This statement is not really necessary but I will make it anyway for the sake of clarity. I did a parallel label, Mutant Pop Records, from 1995-2002 with a brief comeback in 2008. Several bands that Lookout released I also released (Wanna-Bes, Moral Crux, Boris the Sprinkler). Technically, I suppose we were "competitors," although both labels are defunct and was no significant financial connection or financial rivalry, then or now. (Addenda: actually, I take that back, I did do some very light, low dollars distribution of many of their releases — maybe $2,000 retail over several years — to my mailorder and either Lookout or Ben Weasel did reimburse me for recording cost of the Wanna-Bes album, which was like $2,500 or something...) As it is very likely that I will be rewriting this piece from the foundation up, I just wanted to put my real life identity, my punk pseudonym, and my WP name together so that there is no possibility of misunderstanding. —Tim Davenport (T. Picture in the infobox

I thought I should discuss this on the talk page before making any changes, but do you guys think maybe we should change the picture in the infobox to the beady eyes logo? Now that the label's defunct, I don't think there's any need to use the more modern logo. It'd probably be best to use the logo that's most associated with the label. --BLAguyMONKEY! I agree, and went ahead and changed it. The other logo was only used in the final few years of the label's active period, and is far less of a visual identifier than the original, most widely-used logo. Also the version of the "modern" logo used was so small (60 px square or so) as to not be useful for Wikipedia purposes. --IllaZilla (talk) 17:01, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
