Central Government's now binned plans for the name 'The Greater Merseyside Combined Authority'

I'm really new to Wikipedia and a real novice, so I'm trying to figure out what's what and find my way. I don't want to do anything wrong accidentally or otherwise so I'm wondering what fellow Wikipedians have to say about removing the redirect of 'Greater Merseyside Combined Authority' former page title because it was the Department for Communities and Local Government's imposition when all through the process from the beginning all the constituent councils and others involved said they want the organisation to be named for the city region it governs, i.e., The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority - I noticed there is still a page reference or redirect for this title too which I think should remain as long as the CA does as this is the preferred public name it uses. Maybe the page should be the 'The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority' with a redirect from the still current legal name being used in the draft at the moment which is the 'The Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral Combined Authority'? What do others think? I don't really know how to do any of this redirect stuff, I tried to just alter the title and name by putting in a 'The' because I'm probably a geek and perfectionist, but broke the link so I undid my edit - also the person who changed the pages and made the original redirects - MRSC I think it is - said they should remain for now in case links are broken to outside websites, etc.I'mgettingannoyedwiththis (talk) 16:11, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Let's not argue over what you said, I read it in an edit summary you made when you changed the name from GM ca to all the councils - I'm just saying you didn't want to break links to outside or internal references, surely there's no controversy that you said it.--I'mgettingannoyedwiththis (talk) 10:30, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority

The wp page headed and titled as a separate page Liverpool City Region Combined Authority should not be deleted as this is the chosen name most often used for the combined authority by the people who actually govern it! In fact the whole article should be moved to this titled page with the info on its current name in law put in the text of the article because nobody refers to the combined authority as anything other than its actual chosen name of Liverpool City Region CA. Including my own (relevant) academic research

I am an academic who research city-region devolution and I have published the following paper in the peer-reviewed journal British Politics: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1057/s41293-021-00199-z

I tried to add the following section based on the article, but it was flagged as a conflict of interest:

Public Support

Academic research has found that combined authority has higher levels of support from those who live in Liverpool compared to those who live in the other council areas that make up the Liverpool City Region, and that support is higher among Labour voters. Male voters and younger voters are also less likely to support the metro mayor and combined authority.

I have no financial incentive to share this work but I believe that taxpayer-funded research should be disseminated to as wide an audience as possible since effectively the people paid for it! Hopefully others on this page will agree and someone else will add this to the page.
