Gentlemen's club

edit

There is no need to try and remove information. The article Gentlemen's club itself explains that many, if not most, such institutions now admit women. The term has a historical context, and is not understood literally. There is no reason to lose the context. One could add that it now admits women. RodCrosby (talk) 13:24, 8 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

How about leaving the lead as it is, and changing the first sentence in the History section to "The club was founded in 1797 as a 'gentlemen's club'.", using Ken Pye p70 as the reference for this sentence? And as Ken Pye says in his book, he is a "Proprietor of the Institution"; he uses the term in the book, so that should be OK by everyone (?). --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:06, 8 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
